Stomach Reduction Surgery Before and After Photos

New patients often seek before and after photos of stomach reduction surgery, weight loss surgery, obesity surgery, or bariatric surgery. They may search for patient experiences on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or websites.

We understand that patients have concerns when researching important issues such as finding a reliable hospital, an experienced doctor, and post-operative care.

The most effective weight loss surgeries in Istanbul, Turkey are sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass surgery, and gastric balloon operation.

Stomach Reduction – Sleeve Gastrectomy

Gastric sleeve gastrectomy is a frequently used weight loss method and one of the most commonly performed surgeries in Turkey. This procedure involves removing approximately 80-90% of the stomach, leaving behind a tube-shaped structure known as the tube stomach.

Sleeve gastrectomy is a surgical procedure that typically takes one to two hours and is performed under general anesthesia. It is important to note that recovery time may vary, but patients should plan for at least five days in Istanbul. The procedure involves reducing the size of the stomach by removing the fundus area, which helps to suppress the hunger hormone. After surgery, the patient may not experience hunger. It is possible for the patient to lose 70-80% of their weight within one year following the procedure.

Gastric Bypass Surgery

The purpose of the gastric bypass surgery planned in Turkey is both to make the patient lose weight and to save him/her from related health problems. It is known as sugar surgery. The surgery may take about 2 hours under general anesthesia. After the surgery, the patient should be followed by a dietician and a doctor. It is performed laparoscopically.

Weight loss following gastric bypass surgery may continue for up to 1,5 years. The procedure reduces both calorie intake and nutrient absorption.

Gastric Balloon

Gastric balloon is a simple weight loss method that reduces the volume of food intake by placing a balloon in the stomach, leading to a feeling of satiety. This procedure involves using either a 6-month or 12-month gastric balloon. The decision on which option to choose will be made jointly by the doctor and the patient.

A recently popular application is the smart gastric balloon, specifically the Ellipse balloon. This procedure does not require anesthesia. The patient swallows a small capsule which is then controlled to settle in the stomach. After the quality control check, the capsule is filled with a specialized liquid. The procedure concludes once the capsule is filled. The Elipse gastric balloon remains in the stomach for approximately 3-4 months and then deflates naturally. There is no need for removal as it is excreted in the feces.
